And…

And in that vein, ripped jeans are also back in vogue. The Boyfriend look with a couple cute holes that make these look like your favorite worn-in pair of jeans is huge right now.

If you’re feeling more daring and in the mood for being arrested for indecent exposure, you can take a hint from Spring 2010 runway models like Giselle Bundchen and wear it in a more sexy, revealing way – huge holes in the denim were a big look for designers modeling their springwear. But we recommend, avoiding this look altogether.

Climbing Ladders

Ripped jeans (often seen in the boyfriend look) have been in for a very long time; a way for people to be fashionably edgy without foregoing acceptable fashion.

This, just like ripped jeans, isn’t for everyone. But if you wear it, go for the gusto: don’t pair your proudly laddered stockings with a classic suit, or you risk looking like someone who had a run in with the side of a desk. Instead, wear these with short dark skirts and clothes decorated with studs and buckles.

Knee-High Happiness

Now that Christmas season is over, it’s time to transition out of the sweaters your grandma knitted you and into the important things – the fashion that will define the new year. And one of the best looking and most exciting trends is boots.

Knee-high and over-the-knee boots are in in a big way. In fact, not only are boots going over the knees, but they’re going thigh-high!

It’s important to remember (in order to avoid the whole street corner look) to avoid things like shiny patent leather and chunky heels. Go for soft, supple leather that looks classy as well as sexy.

Looking Ahead: Part 3

In a surprising move, there’s one item on the spring list that does cover up some skin: Pants!

But not just any pants. Say hello to your boring khakis and faded black pants, and say hello to some bright and bold patterns and designs.

Florals, graphic prints, abstract shapes, and any whirlwinds of color are welcome here. All sorts of styles are fine, although the harem style with relaxed hips and tapered ankles is expected to take off. Like with the dresses, lighter fabrics are going to be the done thing for the warmer season.

The harem look.

Looking Ahead: Part 2

Remember how skin is in? Well it is, but the miniskirt is done. Look instead to long hemlines… with very high slits.

Light, flowing fabrics in striking colors are going to be key for pulling off this look. It’s more daring than it first appears, because while it shows relatively little while standing, your whole leg is on show while walking. A good tan is recommended.

Different numbers, combinations, and placements of slits are going to be varied among dresses so you can make this look your own.

Looking Ahead

It’s important to start thinking ahead now, because 2010 is going to be quite the year for fashion. Experts predict more volatility than the stock market, and more skin than a nudist colony.

Hotpants are coming back. That’s right, you heard it here first. They swung into fame during 2007, but people were mostly wearing them under big clothes to de-emphasize their boldness. This go around, though, they’re appearing on the catwalks by the themselves, and it looks like people are going to be taking them straight to the streets.

So head to the gym! This is not a look for the faint of heart.
